Transforming Reality: Monochromatic Portrait Painting

Turn a favorite photograph into a bold and expressive work of art in this four-week acrylic painting course. Using a personal reference image (8in x 10in) , students will learn how to simplify photographs into strong shapes, dramatic values, and striking monochromatic color schemes inspired by contemporary portraiture, pop art, and hard-edge painting. Beginning with sketch development and composition planning, participants will create an original 8" x 10" painting while exploring contrast, form, and visual storytelling. Through guided demonstrations and individual feedback with Dariana Trevizo, students will build confidence in translating realistic imagery into a stylized artistic interpretation. No advanced painting experience is required. Class is held in partnership with City of Goodyear.
